Silverstripe

Sunny Side Up was one of the first companies to adopt the Silverstripe CMS. This proved to be a good decision as years later, it got adopted as the New Zealand Government CMS of choice. We feel it is a great tool for medium-sized websites that require a unique brand experience. Everytime we work with another CMS, like Wordpress, we are reminded just how simple and effective the Silverstripe CMS can be. 

As part of our commitment to the Silverstripe open source community we have published close to 400 Silverstripe Modules and we are adding new ones regularly.

We have done a fair amount of work with Wordpress. We found Wordpress overly complex, but we can see how effective it can be in setting up a complex site on a small budget.

We build e-commerce sites in Silverstripe CMS and Shopify. 

Shopify

Sunny Side Up is a Shopify Partner and we can help you work through the most complex Shopify challenges. 

Shopify is a pre-built e-commerce platform that allows shop owners to set up an online presence. It works beautifully from day one and all you need to do is load your details and start selling. 

For example, we can create custom API connections, we can help you select the best apps, apply custom themes, create a unique shopping experience, and help you get the most out of your existing Shopify application. 

NextJs

Sunny Side Up is an early adopter of integrating NextJs with Silverstripe CMS. We are pushing this technology as it produces sites with enhanced speed and reduced loading times.

Svelte

Svelte is the new kid on the block.  We have build a small experiment in Svelte: https://www.wiggle-room.app/ and we will use it again in the future. 

Front-end development

We have worked on 100s of front-end projects. Obviously, we have a world of experience with HTML, Javascript, CSS, and image optimisation (e.g. SVG, WebP).  That is web development 101. However, what is also important is that we are familiar with many of the tools used to combine all of this, such as:

Back-end development

At Sunny Side Up, our experience in back-end development spans two decades, including (custom) CMS creation, and seamless integration with diverse systems. We specialise in PHP and the SilverStripe CMS. Silverstripe is our go-to solution for its user-friendly interface, clear separation of design and content, easy customisation for specific needs (e.g., MailChimp integration), modular approach, and robust support with a large community. 

We also have expertise in: CraftCMS, Shopify, and WordPress. We are open to working with other LAMP platforms, such as Laravel, as most of our skills will be transferable to other LAMP platforms.
